Biotin IV for hair loss

Biotin is a B vitamin that plays a vital role in promoting healthy hair, skin, and nails. Intravenous biotin has been found to be particularly effective in treating hair loss in patients, as it is directly delivered to the bloodstream, promoting better absorption of the nutrient. The duration of treatment can vary depending on the patient’s individual needs, but typically it is recommended to receive biotin via IV infusion one to three times a week for at least three months.

Patients can expect to see a variety of benefits from intravenous biotin treatment, including a reduction in hair shedding and thinning, improved hair strength and thickness, and healthier skin and nails. Overall, intravenous biotin is a safe and effective treatment for hair loss and is often recommended as a supplement to other hair loss treatments.

Hair grows in cycles of 3 months.  It is therefore recommended that the course of Biotin IVs run in 3 monthly cycles.

For moderate to severe hair loss Biotin can be given weekly or every 2 weeks for 3 months.

For mild to moderate hair loss, Biotin can be given every 3 to 4 weeks for 3 months.

Intravenous Iron Drips

Intravenous Iron can only be administered with blood results of iron studies and a script or order from your doctor.  The number of infusions required is worked out by reviewing your haemoglobin and ferritin levels.  Other useful test results are your B12 levels.  You may require more than one infusion to get your iron to optimum levels.

Iron is very well tolerated in IV form.  Some patients report a metallic taste during the infusion.  The area where the cannula is inserted can also feel unusually cold.  The duration of the infusion is about 30 minutes.  If more than one infusion is required, you can have 2 per week or opt to have one infusion weekly.

Iron is essential for the optimal working of your immune system and can also improve your energy and help with skin and hair (brittle nails and dry hair)

Intravenous (IV) iron supplementation can help with immunity, fatigue, thyroid function, and weight loss in certain situations.

Iron is an essential mineral that plays a critical role in various bodily functions, including the immune system, energy metabolism, and thyroid hormone production. Iron deficiency can lead to a range of symptoms, including fatigue, weakness, impaired immune function, and even weight gain.

IV iron supplementation can be used to rapidly restore iron levels in individuals with severe iron deficiency or those who are unable to tolerate oral iron supplementation. This can lead to improvements in symptoms such as fatigue and weakness, as well as a boost in immune function.

In addition, iron is required for the production of thyroid hormones, so correcting iron deficiency can help improve thyroid function. This may be particularly important for individuals with hypothyroidism, as low iron levels can exacerbate thyroid symptoms and make weight loss more difficult.

Mix 2 vials of Venofer/Rautevene in 200ml saline.  1ml B12 and/or 4ml magnesium sulphate may be added to the IV to improve absorption of the iron. Iron will not be administered without a script from the treating doctor.  Patients should bring a copy of the script as well as their blood results for our records.
